Topic: An Update on Political Impacts
To: Managing Director of the Stock Exchange of Thailand
Since the domestic political disruption on 14 April 2010, the demonstration
has obviously become intensifying. Following such rally aggravation since
22 April 2010 is a series of attack by war weapons around Silom Road and
Saladaeng junction, an area in which Dusit Thani Hotel and Dusit Thani
Building are situated.
As Thai Government began its dispersal operation by narrowing down the
parameter of the protest zone-people were also requested for cooperation to
refrain from such area, Dusit Thai Hotel and Dusit Thani Building have been
hit by war weapons at the hotel's guest room area and front yard including
Dusit Thani Building. However, neither guests nor staff members were injured
from the incident.
Nevertheless, there was no fire incident or serious damages within Dusit
Thani Hotel and Dusit Thani Building; only slight damages were reported on
the outside of the building. However, the Company has been covered by terrorism
insurance with the insurance coverage worth Bt 1,400 million. The insurance
company has already performed the damage survey and estimation but
has not yet come to the conclusion regarding the exact number of loss and
time it would take for damage repair.
Since the Company has also secured its crucial data in a back up server at
Dusit Princess Srinakarin, Corporate Office was temporarily moved to Dusit
Princess Srinakarin and Dusit Thani College. However, Corporate Office has
already moved back and resumed its operations at Dusit Thani Building since
24 May 2010 onwards.
As for Dusit Thani Bangkok, the hotel has returned to its normal operations
since 25 May 2010.Only damaged areas will be closed for the further repair.
