Dusit Thani Plc. (DTC) reported the results of the seminar on the effects of electric subway trains on private businesses on Rama 4 Road. The seminar was held on September 24, 1996 at 2.00 pm. in Dusit Thani Hall, Dusit Thani Hotel. It was aimed at hearing opinions, suggestions, as well as discussing solutions for the impacts of the project on the business of Dusit Thani Hotel. The details can be summarized as follows: 1. DTC itself, both in parts of the administration and the employees, does not object to the project, but it requests that the project should be proceeded with the measures to prevent negative impacts on private businesses, particularly Dusit Thani Hotel. 2. The Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority has expropriated the land in front of Dusit Thani Hotel for uses as a construction unit and a sub- station of the project. This has cuased great damages to the hotel's business as hotel business is very susceptible. If guests feel the business is inconvenient, they will turn their back to the service. 3. If a change of the route for the electric subway trin project is not considered by the authority, Dusit Thani Hotel may have to close its business during the project construction, which will kill the business in a long term. The hotel is not willing to do that, but the construction plan and the route of the project will prevent the hotel from offering good services to its guests. Moreover, guests will not use the hotel's services because it fails to offer standardized services expected by them. 4. DTC will hold an extraordinary shareholders' meeting to work out the solutions for this case. Translated by The Nation
